About the Author
I wrote BirthWrite to manage the family tree of the Denison family of Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

A bit `o history:

Capt. John Denison and his wife Sophia settled in the Toronto area in 1796. They emigrated from Yorkshire, England. Shortly after their arrival, their daughter Elizabeth passed away. As there were no cemeteries in the town at the time, she was buried on the family farm. As Denison gained more land he set aside a parcel to be a family cemetery and moved Elizabeth there. He decreed that all of his descendants and their spouses could be buried there. Later a trust was set up to manage the cemetery.

You can imagine that 200 years later there are a lot of Denisons to keep track of.

Twenty years ago, John Hamilton Martin started tracking the family using a program he wrote on a Commodore Pet computer - remember those? John passed away in 1993 and I inherited his data. Since his basic program design was 20 years old, I decided to modernize the program and add some new features to help me look after the data and provide more information to the family. After getting well into writing this, I figured I had something that might be marketable. Hence this effort.

Because of the family interest, I am motivated to keep this program current and running correctly. Many people - including my mother - will be upset with me if I should let it drop.

Because we know of about 3800 people in, or related to, the Denison family, I used our own data as the test suite. I don`t know too many families that large, and I haven't seen very many genealogy programs that could manage that much data. Therefore, I think I can say that the program has been 'stress tested'.

BirthWrite is Shareware
BirthWrite is shareware. That is; you are welcome to try BirthWrite for 10 days. After that, if you like it, you're expected to register to continue to use it. The program is not restricted during those 10 days and, in fact, the program doesn't even keep track. In theory, you can keep on using it as long as you like. But please don't.
